Simultaneous<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As the name suggests, simultaneous interpreting is carried out at the same time as the speech by the speaker. The participants thereby receive, in their various languages, the interpreting feed for the conference speaker's discourse using personal headphones that are synchronised with the listening channel they have chosen. In each interpreting cabin, two interpreters take turns to provide simultaneous interpreting into a language by transmitting it to the receivers in the audience.<\/p>\n

If the conference room is not fitted with a simultaneous interpreting system, we will provide the full equipment (wired, wireless and\/or audiovisual). Throughout the lease of the equipment, the presence of a sound technician is guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Whispering<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Whispering interpreting differs only slightly from the simultaneous variety: instead of speaking into the microphone from the cabin, the interpreter whispers his or her translation into the ear of a person or very small group gathered to one side.<\/p>\n

Consecutive<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Consecutive interpreting allows the transposition of a speech into another language just after the speech has finished. Whereas simultaneous interpreting takes place during the original speeches and lasts as long as they do, consecutive interpreting requires additional time for performance.<\/p>\n

While the speaker says his or her words, the interpreter takes notes and structures his or her translation and abbreviates it according to a reduction ratio - normally between 1\/5 and 1\/2 - which will be defined beforehand with the Chairman of the meeting.<\/p>\n

Liaison interpreting<\/strong><\/h4>\n

If you need interpreting services for a small meeting (of up to twenty people), a guided visit to a workshop or a more restricted meeting and there are no more than two languages to be interpreted, you can use one or two liaison interpreters. In this case, the interpreter translates just as well into one language as into the other, and directly participates in the meeting.<\/p>\n

Sight translation<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The interpreter who performs the translation \u201creads\u201d the written text in the source language directly in the target language. For texts of over 1,000 words (around 100 lines), a pre-translation becomes necessary.<\/p>\n

Mixed<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In the organisation of conferences and summits, it is often necessary to combine different methods of interpreting. You can therefore opt for speeches interpreted simultaneously or using whispering, interventions using consecutive interpreting, commission debates using liaison interpreting and motions using sight translation.<\/p>\n

And it is not unusual to have to change the structure of interpreting methods and the allocation of interpreters at the last minute and while the conference programme is in full swing.<\/p>\n

At the request of the Session Director, the Eurologos coordinator will contact the interpreters to immediately reorganise the services in the field in line with the new requirements.<\/p>\n

Sworn interpreting<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As with sworn translation, sworn interpreting calls for people who have sworn an oath before the Courts. In addition, sworn interpreting is compulsory for civil legal documents (wedding licences, expert studies etc.).<\/p>\n
